Helian Designs: Where and at what age did you start training Muay Thai?
Jessica: November 2020 right here in Sao Paulo, Brazil shortly after celebrating my 28th birthday.
Helian Designs: How has Muay Thai changed your life?
Jessica: Since 2017, I have been managing bipolar disorder, and every medical professional and therapist emphasized the importance of exercise. Initially, I didn't feel motivated to engage in any physical activity. However, during the first year of the COVID 19 pandemic, while working in three hospitals and experiencing immense stress, I stumbled upon Muay Thai. Without a doubt, if it weren't for this martial art, I might have lost my jobs and suffered further damage to my mental health. To me, Muay Thai is not just an "exhaust valve" it serves as a "life valve." It makes me love living. Love life. Live my life. Furthermore, it has taught me that by prioritizing self-care, I can extend better and more sustainable support to others.
Helian Designs: What is your fight record at this time?
Jessica: Six fights 4 wins and 2 losses
Helian Designs: What is an interesting fact about yourself?
Jessica: In addition to being a Muay Thai fighter and physical therapist, I am also a certified Pilates instructor. Prior to discovering Muay Thai, Pilates was the only form of exercise I had experienced. Now, I believe that all of these roles synergize perfectly together.
